Dusty Windows

Dusty Windows

My attic windows used to sparkle
Reflecting sun in every way
Exchange of ideas flowing freely
Revealing what I had to say

There is a collection of treasures
Inside the once clean panes
I think back with yearning
Realizing I am now insane

What was previously beautiful to me
I would just as soon keep out of sight
As I sit here in the dusk
Awaiting peacefulness of the night

How hard is it worth looking
Through glass just barely clear?
Wondering if I have the strength
I shed a solitary tear

Having always tried to do what’s right
And about so many I care
This in the autumn of my life
Seems just so unfair
